1. Fitness and Health Information Disclaimer

1.1 Not Medical Advice

Everything on this site, including calculator results, guides, articles, and strength standards, is provided for informational and educational purposes only. None of it constitutes medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or professional fitness prescription. It is not a substitute for guidance from a licensed physician, physical therapist, certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), or other qualified professional.

If you have an existing injury, medical condition, cardiovascular concern, or any health situation that may affect your ability to train safely, consult a qualified professional before beginning or modifying any exercise program. Do not disregard professional medical advice because of something you read on this site.

1.2 Individual Results Vary

Strength performance, training progress, and injury risk differ between individuals. Factors including age, training experience, genetics, body composition, health status, sleep, nutrition, and recovery all affect what any individual lifter can safely do and achieve. No result, standard, or benchmark shown on this site should be taken as a personal prediction, guarantee, or target that applies to everyone.

1.3 Exercise Involves Risk

Strength training carries inherent physical risk. Maximal and near-maximal efforts, including one-rep max testing, carry a higher risk of injury than submaximal training. This site strongly recommends a structured warm-up before any heavy lifting, qualified coaching for anyone new to barbell training, appropriate safety equipment (power rack, safety pins, collars), and a spotter for all heavy bench press and squat attempts.

This site and its author accept no liability for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from the application of information or calculator results found here. By using this site, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and training decisions.

2. Calculator Accuracy Disclaimer

2.1 Estimated Results Only

All 1RM estimates produced by the calculator on this site are mathematical predictions. They are based on established estimation formulas, including Epley (1985), Brzycki (1993), Lander (1985), Lombardi (1989), Mayhew (1992), O’Conner (1989), and Wathan (1994). They are not direct physical measurements.

Your actual one-rep max depends on technical form, accumulated fatigue, equipment used, testing conditions, time of day, and training history. No formula fully accounts for all of these variables. Treat every estimate as a working approximation, not a definitive number.

2.2 Formula Limitations

Each formula in this calculator was built from a specific dataset of lifters, tested under specific conditions. No single formula performs equally well across all rep ranges, training ages, and exercises. Estimates from input sets above 10 reps are less reliable across all formulas because muscular endurance starts to influence the result more than raw maximum strength does.

Use estimates from 3 to 5 rep input sets where possible. Run the calculator across multiple formulas and treat the spread as your confidence range rather than picking one number as definitive.

2.3 Not a Substitute for Proper Testing

For competitive powerlifters, strength athletes, or anyone who needs a verified maximum for competition or clinical assessment, a supervised testing session following a structured protocol is the appropriate standard. The calculator on this site supports training planning and programming. It does not replace a properly executed, supervised max attempt.

3. Content Accuracy and Updates

3.1 Best Efforts to Be Accurate

The guides and articles on this site are written using published research from recognized sources, including the NSCA, ACSM, and peer-reviewed sports science literature, alongside established coaching frameworks and practical training experience. We make every reasonable effort to ensure the information is accurate at the time of writing.

Exercise science evolves. An article published today may not reflect the most current research by the time you read it. Where possible, we update older content, but we cannot guarantee that every page on the site reflects the most recent available evidence at all times.

3.2 No Warranty of Completeness

This site makes no warranty, express or implied, that its content is complete, current, or free of errors. All information is provided “as is” for general educational use. Readers are encouraged to cross-reference content with qualified coaches, certified professionals, and current literature before making significant training decisions based on what they read here.

4. External Links Disclaimer

This site links to external resources, including ExRx.net, Symmetric Strength, the NSCA, the ACSM, and other reference sources. These links are provided as a convenience to readers. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of any external website. Following an external link means you are leaving this site and are subject to the policies of the destination site.
